a. Charity Dinner 15 Jan 2011
Char Bhanjyang Tamu Samaj UK Charity Dinner Night in Aid of Char Bhanjyang Area Development Project was held at Connaught School, Aldershot on 15 Jan 2011. The guests of honour were Lord Roger and Lady Pat Swinfen MBE. The dinner was attended by members of Char Bhanjyang and local dignitaries totalling 250 members.
b. Meeting for Char Bhanjyang Development Project at 28 Dixon Road London – 18 Feb 2011 and Dene House Kent – 02 Apr 2011
Char Bhanjyang Center for health Project Meeting at Dixon Road hosted by the Chairman and Dene House in Canterbury the Lord and Lady Swinfen. The meeting was attended by the Chairman and members of CBTSUK Members.
c. Tamu Hyula Film Premier Show 19 Jun 2011
Tamu Hyula Film Premier Show took place on 19 Jun 2011 at Connaught School in Aldershot. It was organised to promote Gurung’s unity. The show was inaugurated by President Tamu Dhee UK Mr Muchhetra Gurung, President Tamu Pye Lhu Sang UK Mr Som Gurung and Chairman Char Bhanjyang Tamu Samaj UK Hon Lt Chandra Gurung. The show was a huge success.
d. Breaside Preparatory School Annual Prize Giving 6th Jul 2011
The Headmistress Mrs Karen Nicholson and Deputy Headmistress Debbie Checksfield of Breaside Preparatory School, Kent, kindly invited the Chairman of Char Bhanjyang Tamu Samaj UK Hon Lt Chandra Bahadur Gurung as a Guest of Honour at the Annual Prize giving ceremony. The Chairman was also accompanied by Mr Hari Prasad Gurung (Secretary). The Chairman and Secretary were also had an opportunity to give the power point presentation about Nepal, Char Bhanjyang, our Charity activities and the Gurkhas.
e. Annual Summer Bhela 6 Aug 2011
Summer Annual Bhela took place at Connaught School on 6 Aug 2011
f. Great South Run 30 Oct 2011 for Char Bhanjyang:
FAB 5 (Sharon, Debbie Checksfield,Alan Griggs, Karen Everest, Charlie Mayo) took part in Great South Run on 30 Oct 2011 to raise money for the Medical Clinic in Char Bhanjyang Area, Parbat Nepal. All Char Bhanjyang members are grateful for their kind support.
First Char Bhanjyang Tamu Samaj UK youth meeting took place at Spicy Zone, Aldershot on 5 Nov 2011 to promote youth unity and support CBTSUK’s activities.
h. Donation for re-maintenance work at Swayambhu Budhhist Cemetery, Kathmandu:
CBTS Ama Group Kathmandu initiated the re-maintenance work at Swayambhu Buddhist Cemetery Kathmandu after no authority showed any concern of its total ruined condition. It was estimated about Rs. 25 lakhs to rebuild this cemetery. On the request of CBTS Kathmandu Ama Group, CBTSUK raised Rs 6,33,770 under the coordination of Mrs Santi Gurung. This money was handed to Chairperson of Ama Group Mrs Santu Ghale at Kathamadu by the Chairman of CBTSUK on 9 Nov 2011. She expressed her gratitude to all member of CBTSUK.
i. Char Bhanjyang Center for Health (Swinfen House) Inauguration – 14 Nov 2011
Lady Pat Swinfen MBE kindly laid the foundation stone with special ceremony led by pancha kanya, panchi baja, Lama and pandits. Many members of CBTS Kathmandu, Pokhara and about 400 people from the area were gathered for the ceremony. Special cultural programme was performed by Prachin Nepal Group (Krishna, Mautse, Min, Yuwan and other artist from Pokhara). The village was in celebration for 3 continues day. I have to say the villagers have seen this excitement and glimmer of hope after many years. It was really satisfying to see smile and sense of new hope in their eyes. After the completion of this project, 14000 people around this area will take advantage of this unique medical clinic with Telemedicine Link. I am also delighted to inform you that we have managed to establish Telemedicine Link from Helping hand Phalebas and District Hospital, Kusma, Parbat.
Capt Deo Bahadur Gurung, The Coordinator of Char Bhanjyang Area Development Project have done lots of hard work for this project. He has spent his valuable time, effort and money to help our poor villages and disadvantage people of this area. I really commend his leadership and selfless act to overview this whole project. Without his thorough planing and thinking this programme would not be possible. WO1 (RSM) Kul bahadur Gurung, Chairman of Char Bhanjyang Development Committee/Site manager of Medical clinic is supervising the construction and overall control of the medical clinic project. Mr Roshan Gurung Assistant Site manager of Medical clinic is dealing with day to day construction work and keeping daily expenditure details and labor attendance.
