Honorary life meber : Lt Col (Retd) Ian Foxley, Royal Signals
Ian Foxley served for 24 years in the British Army, including operational tours in Northern Ireland and Bosnia Herzegovina. He commanded 216 (Parachute) Signal Squadron, and 3 (UK) Division Headquarters and Signal Regiment and held staff appointments in the Ministry of Defense focusing on Special Forces projects and programme management for Operational Requirements for Land Tactical Communications. He has ten years commercial experience in telecommunications companies and is currently driving international business development for a leading edge video surveillance enterprise.
Ian is a chartered engineer and member of the institute of management. His technical qualifications include a BSc Hons in Applied Science and Fellowship of the Institute of Electrical Engineers. In addition to his charity work for Make a Wish foundation and a school in Khalte in Western Nepal, Ian is a qualified rugby coach and referee and is the author of two books: Educating Daddy and God’s Quartermaster. His latest book ‘The Devil’s Excrement’, describing his whistleblowing experience in Saudi Arabia, is currently under the pen. He is married with three children and lives in York.
Lt Col Foxley was one of the founding members of Shree Janajyoti Higher Secondary (10+2) School in the Char Bhanjyang area, Khalte, Parbat. He was the main fundraiser to build the Domino’s Pizza building which made possible the establishment of Shree Janajyoti Secondary High (10+2) School. Lt Col Foxley also donated some laptop computers, a solar panel to charge the laptops and Rs 150,000 cash during the opening of the 10+2 school in 2008. Char Bhanjyang is lucky to have Lt Col Foxley and Mrs Emma Foxley as honorary life members and education advisers of the Char Bhanjyang Area Development Project. Their family’s continuous support to Char Bhanjyang is highly appreciated by all members.
